Well I think it has anyway. That is my test model for my new high elves.

He is done save for his sheild and a base. At this point I think I’m happy with it overall, the green against the yellow / orange works to my eyes, and both the green and yellow/orange areas have enough variation in them.

Originally I was planning to do the gems well a gem colour but I put gold on 1 and that seemed to work well to me so I now think they will stay that way.

I’m also happy with the spear shaft, the grey brown in the ring bits seem to work. The boots/gloves/sword handle I’m not happy with, I think it looks a bit to much like a tanned skin tone rather than a leather so that will get changed on the next 1 I think.

I had also planned on putting something on the bottom of the robe and the cloth around the scabard, perhas just a line of the other colour, but I now thinking that would be too much, what people think?

So finishing the sheild is next up, but I’m now also starting to work on the rest of the unit at the same time.

I’m thinking dark green rim, gold gems and orange letter at prestent.
I really like those colours mate, excellent work.

The figure colours work for me. Would red gems on the shields make them pop a little more or would that present a clash of colours?

Thats an intresting idea, I think I’ll give it a go and see.

He’s great. Honestly if you’d described that colour scheme without seeing it practice I’d not have been able to visualise it working but the end results look really good. ๐

Cheers, I was a little concerned about trying it as it does sound odd. But yep happy with how its turned out.

Looking very nice! ๐ I liked the colours on the last view of him, but he really does look good now! I think I’d avoid a stripe round the hem of the robe, but only because there are quite a lot of folds in it, which make it more tricky (unless you are just going to add it to a unit leader). But some extra colour/pattern on the cloth round the scabbard sounds good, or even a decoration on the scabbard itself that maybe matches the shield colour scheme.

Thanks John, I think a line or 2 of yellow on the cloth around the scabard might work and be ok to do. It would be cool to free hand the symbol on the front of the sheild on the scabard body as well, thats a great idea, I recon it will be really “easy to do” and I will not be cursing your name while trying to do it or anything, but I’m going to give it a go!

I love that colour combniation, it works perfectly. I have to say that I’m impressed that you’ve done a blue eye too – I gave up putting even the whites of eyes on most miniatures a long time ago.

Thank you, the eyes were a pain, to start with he looked very “confused and or drunk” correcting them was not fun!
